Annie Vera kali, a Swedish tourist visiting Denmark, decided to leave her friends in Copenhagen and "see for herself" what was happening in Gellerup.
It was a risky decision. Her friends tried to talk her out of it. But Kali was a journalist major and could not resist the chance of a first hand report from the troubled housing region.
Gellerup, the scene of the current rioting and civil disorder not seen unrest on this scale since 2007. It is an area riddled with undead 'lock ups.' Abandoned houses and warehouses where local residents hide and mostly forget about their undead. Police, reacting to residents complaints, and an executive order from Denmark's new Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, have been routing the undead under fierce resistance from local residents and suspected political agitators from as far afield as France.
"I'll write all of this up better when I get the chance. But I want to keep it fresh and visceral for now. I'm gotten myself into the heart of darkness I guess. Not sure if this was such a good idea, but oh well. I'm here now. Actually, 'here' is a semi abandoned building. That is to say 'officially' it's abandoned. Lots of squatters and homeless live here. No zombies boarded up though! (I checked first).
It gives me a pretty good vantage point to see what's going on below. Lots of shouting and confusion. Can't really see the Looters, or the police chasing looters, or zombies, police chasing zombies, zombies chasing looters. Non of that. I think it's happening a few streets over east though. I can see fires. The sky is glowing red and yellow over there."
"She wandered into an open area. Right where the fires were. I wonder if they are attracted to fire? Thought for the day. Anyway, as she got closer, a van with about five cops in it Screeched to a halt. They all jumped out and shouted at her to ID herself. Obviously, that wasn't going to happen. So they just pummeled her with batons. I know they were only doing their job and all that. But I have to admit I'm concerned that they didn't just shoot her from a safe range. Why did they bash her up? It was sad to see. The ultra violence. I guess tempers and adrenalin are souring right now."
"They called a hazmat ambulance and it bagged and tagged her. Then they all left. Job done I guess"
"A little later I met some kids. They were teenagers. What the hell were they doing out in the curfew anyway? Well, getting drunk on stolen booze, that's what. We shared some vodka and cigarettes."
"Then it all got really horrible. Yes, it was even worse than seeing that poor 'ex' woman have her face caved in by cops.
The teenagers saw two zombies, they wandered out of...somewhere....and these idiot kids decided to screw around with them."
"The girl ran up behind this one fat zombie and she just jumped on his back. I think the idea was that one of the guys would jump on the other and they would use them like horses, sort of like you did at school or something. But the fat zombie was pretty old, and decayed. So it's leg gave way under the weight. It just fell backwards and on top of her. Her friends were laughing at first. And so was she. Then she realized she couldn't get out from under it. And that's when the other zombie saw her. He wandered over. Almost had a look of curiosity on his face. The kids tried to divert it's attention. To get it to come their way. They shouted and waived. But she was closer ti it. So it started going for her. She was able to swat it away with her fist for a minute or so. Her friends shouting at it and throwing things at it, but then it grabbed her hand and started gnawing on it. It was horrible."
"It wasn't like in the movies. No snarling or ravenous look on it's face. Didn't look angry or crazy. It was emotionless. It's eyes black like a sharks. That was the thing I'll never forget as long as I live. No expression at all. Her friends ran. And me? I ran too. I'm so ashamed."
There ends Annie Vera kali's last blog entry. Concerned friends contacted police after she failed to continue her blog. Sadly, a body matching her description was found later by police. Reanimated and wandering the abandoned building she was reporting from. It was neutralized and removed by a hazmat team.
ZWN wishes to extend it's deepest condolences and sympathy to her family. It also would like to remind iReporter's to use diligence and sense when reporting, and not to take unnecessary risks.
See additional photos on this page found in her camera. Photo #3 (left) was the last image on the camera and suggests a chilling end for Annie Vera Kali.
