Belfast Quarantine Expands To
Two Mile Radius
Belfast, N. Ireland, UK
Posted: 13th, Aug. 2009
ZWN correspondent - M. Dunn

Belfast police have now confirmed that following the recent reanimate attack and subsequent re killing of three undead, they have extended the two week old quarantine to include the whole dockside area of Harland & Wolff shipbuilding as well as a two mile radius of the local area,.

In a related incident two more reanimates have been discovered inside the new quarantine area. One of the reanimates was found wondering around outside the perimeter of the now sealed off shipping yard, the second was discovered after concerned neighbors reported suspicious activity from an unknown individual wandering and acting in a manner suggestive of a mortosis like condition. All local traffic has been diverted while the army continues to survey the area.

Police spokesperson John Lennighan said “Unfortunately a further two reanimates have been discovered recently. In order to provide maximum security to the people of Belfast we have taken the difficult decision to close the port, harbor and surrounding perimeter completely. This is only a temporary measure, and once the army are satisfied that we have eliminated all threats, the whole will be reopened.

Identities Revealed
ZWN can also now confirm the identity of the 4 reanimates that were found within the quarantine area. The 1st reanimate has been named as Timothy Hamilton a 38 year old English crew member from merchant ship Praetorian. The police are currently interviewing all members of the crew that sailed with Mr Hamilton in the last 3 weeks.

The other 3 reanimates have been identified as Frenchmen Lazare Dupont (37) & Bastian Garnier (39) who are believed to have arrived on a maritime commercial ship two weeks ago.

The 4th reanimate was identified as Lukas Braun (41) his situation is yet be fully established as police continue to question family and colleagues of the undead.

The police are still trying to establish contact with a handful of maritime vessels that have docked at the Harland & Wolff facility within the last 30 days. There is as yet no information on two crew members missing on a Russian fishing vessel that had docked at the yard and police are still working to establish the identification of the two recently discovered reanimates.

A spokesperson also confirmed that it has still been unable to confirm the identification of partial remains discovered july 18th. They said they will continue to work towards identification.

Soldier presence increases
The government also confirmed that the battalion of 100 soldiers will be increased to 200. Alan Johnson - The Home Secretary said
“This is merely a precautionary measure, with the increase in the size of the quarantine we have taken the decision to increase the amount of troops stationed on the ground in order to provide the best possible secure zone”

A representative of the government is to meet members of Harland & Wolff in the next few days to discuss the financial implications of the outbreak
