Official: Miami Zombie Attack Was Not Bath Salts
June. 27th, 2012

(ZWN) -- Miami police authorities have confirmed that last months viscous attack on a homeless man was not the result of bath salts as first reported.
Rudy Eugene, 31, the naked Florida man who last month chewed off 75% of the face of another man, had no "bath salts" in his system as police had suspected, authorities said Wednesday.
Eugene was shot dead by a police officer after an 18-minute attack on 65-year-old Ronald Poppo, a homeless man.
The only drug residue in his system was
marijuana. His body didn't show "any other street drugs, alcohol or prescription drugs, or any adulterants found in street drugs," according to the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner Department.
"The department has also sought the assistance of an outside forensic toxicology reference laboratory, which has confirmed the absence of 'bath salts,' synthetic marijuana and LSD," the statement said.
Resources for addicts in Jacksonville FL. have seen a sharp rise in patient awareness of 'bath salts', but few report their usage of the drug.
Armando Aguilar, president of the Fraternal Order of Police, told news reporters last month that he suspected Eugene was under the influence of "bath salts." The relatively new street drug contains synthetic stimulants that can "cause chest pains, increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, hallucinations, agitation, extreme paranoia and delusions," according to the National Institute of Drug Abuse.
Eugene's mother described her son as "a nice kid". She wonders if he could have been subdued with a Taser rather than gunfire.
"He was a good kid. He gave me a nice card on Mother's Day. Everyone says he was a zombie. He was no zombie. That was my son," the mother, who asked that her name not be revealed, told new reporters.
Several illegal M-Bomb labs have been raided in the city following last months attack.
There is no known connection to last months zombie attack and M-Bombs at this point, but police are considering all possible scenarios.
What is an 'M-Bomb'?
'M-bomb' or ''Mortosis bomb'' is a powerful central nervous system stimulant, which is typically manufactured in clandestine, home-based labs. The small black and green capsule has quickly reached the top of the Office of National Drug Control's list of most dangerous narcotics. Increasingly available across
several states, It splices 15 mg of amphetamines with 15 mg of the 'Necro-Mortosis.' undead strain.
ZWN's Dr. Chan. commented that 'It's seeming popularity is in the effect of numbness. A
'spacey', disconnected sense of not caring. But after coming
down, even those who do not contract full blown Mortosis, still have
a heavy sense of lethargy, depression, difficulty in breathing and aching
of joints, even after only one capsule."
"Heavier drug users may be tempted
to double or treble the amount taken to reach a greater high. This will
increase the risk of contracting the virus dramatically."
The narcotic is so dangerous that even after only three or more uses the receiver can contract full blown Mortosis and die within forty eight hours. Necrotic re animation follows shortly thereafter.
The recreational use of M-Bombs has led to the deaths and re killing of at least 137 cases in the USA this year alone and as many as 9,000 reanimations worldwide.
